Visit at Castel Sant’Angelo
Not far from the Vatican, on the right bank of the Tiber, stands the tomb willed by Emperor Hadrian.
The building was later used by the popes as a fortress and castle, and is now a museum.
A long bridge adorned with angel sculptures leads to the Castel Sant’Angelo, which within its walls holds the nuances of the Eternal City’s past and present.
It was also a fortress, a dark and terrible prison and a splendid Renaissance residence.
A building that has changed its face and function, closely following the transformations of the city.
